Becky Galentine Memorial Round Robin

Dear Colleagues,

The Washington Debate Coalition (WDC) is proud to announce the first annual Becky Galentine Memorial Round Robin. Becky Galentine gave to Washington debate in many ways, including as a coach at Whitman College and as founder of the Seattle Debate Foundation. The Round Robin is an excellent opportunity for local students to continue to support Becky's dream of creating opportunities to debate at colleges and high schools in the State of Washington.

The Round Robin will take place at the University of Washington on Wednesday, December 2, and Thursday, December 3, 2009. The WDC is excited to offer:

  • policy, public forum, and Lincoln-Douglas debate;
  • great regional competition including St. George, Puyallup, and Gig Harbor;
  • awards of debate camp and college scholarships;
  • high-quality judging hand-selected from Washington coaches, successful debate alums, and current college debaters to maximize educational and competitive benefits to high school students;
  • an excellent tabulation staff including Gonzaga University's Glen Frappier and other experienced Washington coaches;
  • individualized coaches' workshops presented by expert debate coaches who are committed to the pedagogical goals of high school debate;
  • top-notch hospitality provided by the WDC.
